1. Soap and Water

If you are wondering how to clean diamond rings on a budget, we have the answer!

You can soak your diamond ring in a mix of warm water and dish soap. Dish soap is an excellent choice to clean your ring because it can get rid of the built-up girt and grime in minutes.

Many people recommend grabbing a soft toothbrush or scrubber to remove dirt as well. Make sure that you don’t use hard bristles on your jewelry, otherwise, it can become scratched. Spend extra time cleaning underneath the diamond to get the cracks and between prongs.

2. Use a Water Pick

A unique way to clean your diamond ring is done with a water pick.

A water pick is used to help keep the mouth clean. It is powerful and precise, making it the perfect cleaner. Use your water pick on your ring, just be sure to cover the drain so that you don’t accidentally drop your ring and lose it.

Wooden toothpicks are another way that you can clean your ring. Be cautious while using the wood toothpicks so that you don’t pop the diamond out of its setting.

3. Ammonia and Water

You should only use ammonia and water to clean a diamond if it is untreated.

Only untreated diamonds can be cleaned this way because the rest can cause damage. The mixture only requires a small amount of ammonia and plenty of water to prevent the chemicals from being too strong.

There are many effective ways of cleaning your ring. Be careful when you do with this tip, otherwise, your ring can become dull and cloudy. Wear gloves when working with ammonia.

4. Jewelry Cleaning Solution

If dish soap and ammonia aren’t working, you can purchase a jewelry cleaning solution.

There are many variations to these cleaning solutions, just make sure yours is non-abrasive and chemical-free. Cleaning polishes can help bring a dull piece of jewelry back to life in a matter of minutes.

Take a look at online reviews or get referrals from people on the best cleaner available.

5. Windex and Peroxide

If you have a diamond on a silver or gold band, you can clean it with a mixture of Windex and hydrogen peroxide.

To make the solution, put equal parts of Windex and peroxide in a bowl. You can put your ring inside and let sit for about 15 minutes. Most of the dirt will be lifted from the Windex. The hydrogen peroxide is used to reduce bacteria.

You can use a soft brush on your ring to scrub away stubborn dirt.

6. Vinegar and Baking Soda

Silver diamond rings can be cleaned with half a cup of vinegar and 2 tbsp of baking soda.

Most people have white vinegar around the house and baking soda in a cabinet.

Put both ingredients in a bowl and mix until the baking soda is dissolved. You can soak your ring in the mixture for up to 3 hours. Rinse it with cold water when you take it out and dry your ring with a soft material.

You can use baby cloths, cotton fabric, and other soft materials to wipe it down.

7. Beer

Solid gold rings can be cleaned with beer and a soft towel.

When you notice that your gold ring is getting dull, you can pour beer onto a cloth and rub it over the ring. Make sure you gently rub to avoid scratching the band. Don’t get the beer on your diamonds and gemstones.

Getting beer on the diamonds can make them look cloudy and leave a sticky residue. If you notice that your ring is sticking, rinse it again with warm water to prevent the grime from building up.

8. Ketchup

Another way to clean silver rings is with ketchup.

Soaking your ring in a bowl of ketchup can help get rid of grime tarnish. After a few minutes, pull your ring out and brush it with soft bristles. After the ring has been thoroughly soaked, you can rinse it with warm water and dry it with a cloth.

9. Take It to a Professional

When home cleaning solutions don’t work, you can take your ring to a professional so that they can properly clean it.

You can look at wholesale jewelry while waiting for your ring to come back shimmering and clean. The jeweler can also look for damage while they are working on it and make any fixes along the way.

Taking your ring to the jewelers every year is recommended so that it can be checked and thoroughly cleaned. The best part about seeing a professional is that you can also see what other jewelry they offer!
