3 Tips for Decorating Your Black Hills Den

By Cristiana , in General , at December 15, 2020

Winter is one of the most beautiful times in the Black Hills. Snow transforms the majestic pine and spruce forests into a wonderland of frosty white. However, you may only be able to enjoy the outdoors in small increments. Cold temperatures are likely to drive most of your activities indoors.

A den or game room is an area to gather with family and friends and entertain yourselves on long, cold South Dakota evenings. Here are some suggestions for furnishing and decorating your den so you can get the most enjoyment out of it.

1. Make It Age-Appropriate

Are you going to use your den for family games or for gathering with your old college friends? Knowing who is going to be using the den makes a big difference in how to decorate it and what to include. For example, a dartboard Rapid City SD is a great thing to include in a man-cave where you get together with your buds, but if your den is supposed to be a place to entertain small children, you may want to reconsider.

2. Use Natural Light Wisely

Depending on how you use your den, natural light can be a blessing or a bane. If you’re using it for games of dexterity, such as darts or pool, a natural light source can be to your advantage because it helps you see what you are doing. However, if you use your den for playing video games or watching movies, a lot of natural light is not helpful. Keep these factors in mind when choosing an area for your den or how you want to use it.

3. Combine More Than One Interest

Your den can be a place where you engage in all the activities you enjoy most. Don’t feel like you can only put the game table in there to the exclusion of your drum set or video gaming system. Use the space creatively so there is room for everything.

There are really no rules when it comes to decorating a den as long as it is comfortable, safe, and fun.
